MDG 1: ERADICATE EXTREME POVERTY AND HUNGER

I. POVERTY REDUCTION AND AGRICULTURAL IMPROVEMENT    PROGRAMS:

Development Planning and Training Workshops with Community Based Organisations (CBOs): This programme aims at facilitating competent institutional skills for members of groups / associations in order to enhance the long-term sustainability of their activities. Specifically, it involves the creation of a three- five year development plan using the Participatory Strategic Planning Method, which would be implemented through self-help efforts.

Community Sensitisation/Mobilisation Workshops for Grassroots Project Implementation: As the name implies, the programme aims at sensitizing and mobilizing group/community members towards full participation/involvement in a project to ensure its success and sustainability. The people are brought together to initiate community development projects through the creation of a common vision and to contribute their resources towards the successful execution of the projects. IFAD has engaged NIRADO severally on this programme in different parts of the country.

Leadership/Group Cohesion and Good Governance Training: is designed to empower the leaders of a community-based group in order to enhance their leadership skills, enable them facilitate their development process effectively, strengthen the internal cohesion and effective management of the groups, promote human rights protection and ensure people know and exercise their Civic Rights

Enterprise Development and Economic Empowerment Program: aims at enabling people carry out successful income-generating activities through training in business management and how to start and run income generating projects. They are also taken through a counseling process to ensure that they engage in a viable business venture.

Agricultural Improvement Program: is designed to improve on the various agricultural activities in the rural areas. It entails new farming methods, soil management and dissemination of agric information, storage, processing and marketing of products; and accessibility to modern technologies.
